Since 1993 The Colorado Parks and Recreation Association and Venture West have produced the Colorado Performing Arts Jamboree (a showcase and trade show) and The Guide to Colorado Performers (a catalog of performers available to perform in Colorado).
Our very first promotional piece sent to buyers of talent in 1993 said the Jamboree (though it wasn’t called that yet) was a place for “artists and buyers of performances to come together to do business,” by which we meant connecting artists and presenters for their mutual benefit. But we soon found that, in addition to meeting each other, artists come together with artists and presenters come together with presenters - connecting with colleagues for another level of mutual benefit. In the Internet age, we have additional ways to stay connected - to share our concerns and successes in such a way that the “profession” benefits from the experience of each individual.
To that end we have created the Presenters Lounge, a place online for presenters of live performances to connect for mutual benefit. Relax with a cup of coffee or tea and read profiles of facilities and venues and individuals working in the field and occasional observation and opinon pieces commenting on the state of the performing arts in our area. Scroll back to our post of the fall 2010 to find “Tips for Buyers,” a guide to getting the most out of your day at the Jamboree. You may leave comments or suggestions for topics to explore. It is easy to feel isolated as we work for the performing arts in our local settings. We hope the Presenters Lounge can help keep us connected to the big picture and to each other.
